What does Florida Discount Car Rentals offer?
We offer a site which has all of the features you need for an excellent car rental experience. The site offers extensive information on local points of interest, interesting drives, local contact information and of course, comparative discounted car rental rates.

Who are you guys and how can you offer such low rates?
We are a discount wholesaler that specializes in rentals cars in Florida. We keep our overheads low and we pass the discounted savings onto you.

Do I have to be a member to reserve a rental car?
No, by reserving through us, you automatically get to use our corporate codes which are embedded in the reservation sheets.

What locations does Florida Discount Car Rentals serve?
We service all major airports throughout Florida from Jacksonville to Key West. All airports which we service are conveniently listed on the front page.

What is the cancellation policy?
There is no penalty for cancellation since we do not take credit card information when making a reservation.

How do I cancel a reservation?
To cancel an existing reservation, just send us a quick return email requesting cancellation. Plans change, it’s no problem.

How do I make changes to my reservation?
You can. All you need to do is go to the “reservations” section on the home page of the company you have chosen and enter your confirmation number and last name. You can also send us a return email requesting the changes if you do not have the time or inclination. The only time changes cannot be made are in situations when the class of car has been completely sold out.

What is the minimum age to rent a car?
You must be at least 21 years of age to rent a car through our various rental agencies. If you are between the ages of 21 to 25, the various rental agencies will apply a underage surcharge of $26.99 per day.

How many days does it take to earn the weekly rate?
Weekly rate is applied after 5 rental days. The weekly rate simply charges you for the first 5 days and then gives you the last two at no charge.

Can I combine stops in several Florida locations to get the weekly rate?
No. The overhead remains the same for a rental at each airport so they would not remain viable if they offered such a program.

Do I have to request air conditioning if I want it?
No. All rentals come standard with air conditioning.

Can I get a car with standard transmission?
All of our rental vehicles come with automatic transmissions. Unfortunately, not enough people prefer the standard transmission to offer them.

Can I reserve a child safety seat?
Child safety seats are available at the agency counter and can be requested at time of pick up. Costs range from $10 to $12.99 per day.

Are the child seats installed in the car when I pick it up?
The rental agencies do not pre-install the child safety seats. You install them to your preference at time of pick up.

Is insurance included with the rental price as quoted?
No. Insurance is optional and as such, not included in our price quotes. Many drivers find that they are covered by their current insurance and / or major credit card company when renting a vehicle. This should be investigated prior to traveling.

Can I choose the color of my car?
We cannot guarantee a particular color of car. You are welcome to request a color and we will add that request to the reservation. The agency will do what they can to honor your request.

Are there charges for additional hours over 24?
Yes. Most rental agencies will add a third of a days rental for every hour over 24 until a full days rental has been reached.

What should I have with me at time of pick up?
You will need a valid drivers license and a major credit card. A debit card works fine as long as it has the logo of a major credit card company on it. If you do choose to use a debit card, the various rental agencies will run a credit check on it so allow for five or ten additional minutes while this is being done.

Can I get a non-smoking vehicle?
All vehicles are non-smoking now. If you want a car you can smoke in, it has to be done via special request.

When do I pay for the rental?
Payment is made at time of drop off.

I’m coming into Orlando on the train, where can I rent a car?
You have two options here. Hertz Rent A Car is located in-terminal at each of the four train stations. Enterprise also has several locations in and around downtown that can also service pick up at the train stations. The airport rental agencies do not service pick ups at the train stations.

Is the price listed my final price?
There are no hidden charges. The price listed on your confirmation will list your final price in both base rate and with all taxes and surcharges added. The price does not include optional purchases such as insurance, portable GPS units, child safety seats, nor does it include the usage and purchase of gasoline.

What is a drop charge and when is it applied?
A drop charge or one way fee is applied when you pick up a car at one airport but leave it at another. In Florida, it’s not unusual for a traveler to pick up a car in Jacksonville (JAX) and drop it off in Orlando (MCO). This would involve a drop charge. At the start of the year, the rental agencies very carefully plan out their inventory levels. When you leave a car at a different airport, the company has to pay to return it to its original airport to keep inventory levels as planned. The cost of a drop charge vary depending on the distance a company has to drive to return the car to its point of origin. Drop charges vary from $20 to $65.
